Thanks to all those who have completed the short survey for us about our online presence.

We had a pretty good response and it is nice to get some feedback from our most valuable resource…you! We’ll be analyzing the results here fairly soon, and then we’ll attempts to improve where we can, make the changes suggested where possible, and generally take your feedback to heart.

We’re not going to close this survey, so if you wish to take, please do so. On this blog, you can find the link further down on a previous post or you can always visit www.sdshspress.com where you will find the survey link on the “News” tab.

Thanks again. We really appreciate it.

It seems as though we have been waiting for ages to get our first book of 2009 into the warehouse, but it has arrived.

Seth Bullock: Black Hills Lawman is now in stock and available. We’ll be putting out our media kit and press releases etc., as soon as we get a chance, and review copies will be winging their way to people soon too.

Great response to the new book this past weekend at the South Dakota History Conference. David Wolff, the author, signed copies as well.

History and Heritage Book Club

15 04 2009

The History and Heritage Book Club met for the first time last night, at the Cultural Heritage Center in Pierre. 12 people attended, having read Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane: Deadwood Legends by James D. McLaird, published by the South Dakota State Historical Society Press.

The conversation was lively and stimulating, and with the author joining the group via conference call, everyone was able to really dig beneath the surface and ask some interesting questions.

The History and Heritage Book Club meets the second Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be May 12 at 7pm. Those who attended the first meeting chose Cowboy Life: The Letters of George Philip as the next book to be read. H and H members receive a 10% discount on the price of the book at the South Dakota Cultural Heritage Store. It is hoped that Cathie Draine, editor of Cowboy Life will attend the meeting via conference call.
